Please note that this is an individual coursework. The module assignment is designed to support students’ learning by giving them the opportunity to apply the core concepts introduced in the lectures to a real-life project. Students will need to show evidence of an awareness of the different value processes that unfold as the project develops, the broad range of stakeholders involved in a construction project and the importance of managing their expectations and the role of the project manager in supporting value creation and project success. 2. Assessment Brief: The Google Headquarters, Kings Cross London Global ‘tech’ giant Google is building its first wholly owned building outside the United States in London, Kings Cross. The purpose-built 11-storey building will provide over 1 million square feet of commercial and office space, of which Google will occupy approximately 650,000 square feet. The new building dubbed ‘Landscraper’ will be 72 metres tall at its highest point, and 330m long. The building is expected to provide office accommodation for up to 4,500 employees of Google. The building will also provide ancillary spaces including cafes, a gym, multi-use games areas as well as landscaped terraces and a running track on the rooftop. The concept design is led by Heatherwick Studio and Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and is expected to be developed in highly innovative and sustainable way to support future ways of working. This new development is expected to contribute to the Knowledge Quarter and King’s Cross’s growing knowledge-based economy. The project is also viewed as a major part of regeneration plans in the Kings Cross area. Planning permission was granted by Camden Council in 2017 with project completion expected at the end of 2024.
