but you must maintain the original message goal.

Dear Ms McKinney,
It is with my sincerest and most respectful delight and pleasure that I acquaint you with my
recent news.
Your wonderful and treasured book has been accepted for our publication. You are most
deserving of these magnificent honours.
Our partnership will be fruitful indeed, as we proceed together on this publishing journey.
Can you believe it was only three weeks ago that we met at the Business Writers Conference in
Newcastle? I remember you detailing the joyous day when you got your puppy, Albert, from the
dog breeder. The video you showed me was hilarious and had me in hysterics within a few
short moments.
To commence the project we will need you to provide the completed and majestic copy of your
manuscript by return email by the 14th. Please ensure that this marvellous book is sent in a
Microsoft Word file so that our editors can work their magic.
Warm, sincere and grateful regards.

Part 2: Letter
Use the information below to write a business letter. Use correct structure, appropriate tone for the email
purpose and audience, and be mindful of conciseness and clarity. You should add or remove details as
needed, but you must maintain the original message goal.
Your letter should not exceed one page in your final submission.

You are the Customer Service Manager of a small printing company, M-Comm Printers, that
has been paid to print copies of a new textbook, Business Communication for Business People
for the publishing company BizBooks.
One week ago, BizBooks received their sample copy before the full print run and has found
some significant printing errors within the pages of the book.
Mr Barry Businessman, the editor in charge of the textbook at BizBooks, has sent you a formal
letter containing his concerns and requests that you urgently send him an updated sample copy
by the end of the week. You received this letter on Thursday afternoon, with only one business
day left in the week.
After investigation in the printing department, you found that the errors in the sample copy were
in the originally supplied file from the publisher.
The identification of the printing errors by the publisher is a normal part of the sample process,
and the publisher should review their file for errors. Once the file has been corrected, the
publisher should send it back to the printing company for a new sample copy to be printed.
Given this process, it would not be possible to send BizBooks a new sample copy by the end of
this week, but this could be done by the end of next week, as long as M-Comm Printers
receives the new file by Monday.
You need to communicate the relevant information in a formal letter to Mr Barry Businessman

Part 3: Media Release
Write a media release that responds to the following scenario. You may add more details as relevant.
Your media release should use correct structure, relevant and persuasive information, journalistic voice,
implicit and explicit attitude, clear writing and appropriate formatting.
Your media release should not exceed one page in your final submission.

You are the media manager at BizBooks and you are writing a media release to be distributed
immediately. The purpose of the media release is to announce a new book by nationally-
acclaimed writer Georgia McKinney.
Georgia has written a book about business writing; the book includes case studies, templates
and up-to-date information on writing for business. The book is called Business Communication
for Business People.
She has written chapters on clear writing, positioning readers, persuasive and argumentative
communication, problem solving communication, research communication, email, letter writing
and instant messaging communication, public communication, and ethical communication.
The book even has a preface written by the billionaire tech CEO Steve Gates. He said, when
asked about it, “Over the course of my entire career, I have had McKinney books on my shelf.
This latest book puts together key concepts in communication and how to apply them in many
ways. Any person new to the business world would benefit from having a copy. Georgia and I
have been friends for many years, and I value her opinion on communication more than anyone
else’s. I tried to get her to come over to Applesoft more than once, but she’s always been
focused on publishing.”
Georgia McKinney has said she is extremely proud of this new release, which will likely be the
last book she writes before retirement. “I’ve been writing for the last forty-seven years about
communicating in business environments. This latest book puts together in an easy to approach
way all my key learning.”
To date, the author has written 71 books and articles about communication in business
environments, including recent best-sellers Communicating for Climate Change and Human
Writes.
The book will go on sale on June 1 2022 at all major book retailers, including online sellers. The
print copy is AUD 109.99 and the ebook copy is AUD 89.99.
In addition to the book being sold, you should also announce that Georgia will be signing books
on a national signing tour to begin at 9AM on June 1 in Newcastle, New South Wales at
Newcastle Books on James Street, Adamstown. From there, the author will travel to Sydney,
Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Hobart. The
full list of locations can be found on the BizBooks website bizbooks.com.au.
Georgia also has a website that contains her full book list and additional contact information:
